Organisation

Mukuru Slums development Projects (MSDP) is a Kenyan NGO, located in the heart of Mukuru informal settlements since 2009. With a population of 700,000 people, Mukuru is nestled in Nairobi Industrial area providing cheap and malleable labour force to industries. Surviving with hand to mouth wedges, parents of Mukuru often leave their children to their own devices, therefore creating an endemic poverty and low education education levels. MSDP’s mission is to improve the living conditions of women, children and youth with a holistic approach providing social and economic empowerments programing, including sports, performing arts, school clubs, business training and vocational skills training for youth, rescue and rehabilitation of street boys and a teenage mothers support program. Their main funding comes from DKA and they often secure private donation.

Assignment Goal

While MSDP has strong expertise in social work, working with communities and children, they identified a need to strengthen their internal systems. The assignment will be about training and mentoring staffs on project management, monitoring and evaluation, communication and feedback mechanisms.
